Yatenga: The Special Regional Delegation of the North is committed to the return of peace

Members of the Special Regional Delegation of the North, led by the 1st vice-president, Abdoulaye Sanfo, exchanged with the active forces of the region on Friday August 23, 2024 in Ouahigouya. Objective: to promote social cohesion and living together for the return of peace to the Northern region.The Northern region, like many other regions of Burkina Faso, has experienced a massive movement of populations from the countryside to the provincial capitals in recent years.The demographic boom in cities has consequences on social relations between different communities. It is in this sense that the Northern regional council, through the Decentralization and Citizen Participation program (DEPAC) phase 3, financed by Swiss Cooperation, organized an exchange meeting with all the active forces of the region from the North on August 23 in the city of Naaba Kango.At the heart of the discussions: how to contribute, by all means and with the help of community leaders, to promoting social cohesion and living togeth er, in order to facilitate the return of peace to the country.Traditional and religious leaders, leaders of civil society organizations, host populations and internally displaced people, all from the four provinces of the region, gathered around the same table to discuss social cohesion, living together and return of peace.For the 1st vice-president of the Special Regional Delegation of the North, Abdoulaye Sanfo,'This morning's meeting aims to discuss with community leaders from the four provinces on how to promote social cohesion and living together between populations (hosts and IDPs) for the return of peace. We expect recommendations from these exchanges so that together we can contribute significantly to the return of peace.'A very appreciated initiative and duly praised by all the participants. They made the commitment, returning to their communities, to be ambassadors for the return of peace.'This day of discussion is welcome. Community leaders can really contribute to the return of peace, be cause they are the voices of society.
