A government delegation launched Monday construction work on a runoff water collector at the Ouezzin Coulibaly camp to prevent flooding in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso.'This water collector will help counter flooding situations at the Ouezzin Coulibaly camp and in the town of Bobo-Dioulasso,' declared the head of the government delegation, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly.The work, which will be carried out by military engineers, will capture runoff water coming from the watersheds on the south side of the camp and which causes enormous damage within the camp and outside.Mr. Coulibaly, also Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, gave firm instructions to the technicians concerning not only the quality of the work but also compliance with the completion deadline, which is ten days.He also welcomed the financial contribution of private sector actors for the cleaning of the retention basin of the Ouezzin Coulibaly camp and the gutters in the town of Sya.The head of the government delegation also i nvited stakeholders from the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso to support the technicians in carrying out the work.For the occasion, the technical services of the ministries in charge of Urban Planning and Infrastructure as well as military engineering reassured the members of the government regarding the proper execution of the work.The government team was made up of the ministers in charge of Defense, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, of Urban Planning, Mikaïlou Sidibé, and the Secretary General of the Government, Mathias Traoré.Note that this decision to carry out this work came during a meeting on August 24, 2024 between economic operators in the Hauts-Bassins region and the government delegation.It follows the torrential rains which fell on June 9, 2024 on the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, causing further flooding.Source: Burkina Information Agency
