Former Prime Minister Aminata Touré was appointed yesterday Tuesday as High Representative of the Head of State, announced Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS).A former president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Ms. Touré was also Minister of Justice under Macky Sall and a United Nations official before being promoted to this position.The second woman to have led the Senegalese government after magistrate Mame Madior Boye, she was special envoy of the President of the Republic and member of the APR, the political party of former President Macky Sall.A diplomat by training, Aminata Touré has been active in the Senegalese left since her youth, which earned her several positions, including that of Prime Minister on September 1, 2013."I express my deep gratitude to President Diomaye for my appointment to the post of High Representative of the President of the Republic," Aminata Touré immediately declared on her X account.She also renewed her commitment to the advent of a "sover eign, just and prosperous Senegal."Source: Burkina Information Agency
