Yatenga: the operationalization of the agropastoral and fishing offensive 2023-2025 under debate

Ouagadougou: The Regional Food Security Council (CRSA) of the Northern Region held the first session of its General Assembly of the year 2024 on Thursday, September 12 in Ouahigouya. The objective was to reflect on the operationalization of the agropastoral and fisheries offensive 2023-2025.The first session of the General Assembly of the Regional Food Security Council (AG-CRSA) of the Northern region was held under the theme "Contribution of development partners in the operationalization of the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive 2023-2025 in the Northern region: state of play and perspectives".In order to ensure the sustainable functioning of its decentralized structures, the need for regular meetings of the technical committee was noted in order to coordinate all actions to respond effectively to the food and nutritional situation in the region.This activity is in line with the 2023-2025 agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive launched by the transitional authorities.This is why technical and finan cial partners are asked to contribute to the operationalization of this initiative.Statutory members, technical committees from the four provinces and technical and financial partners all met around the same table to find appropriate solutions to food security.The Secretary General of the region, Kouilga Albert Zongo, president of the ceremony and representing the governor, first praised the efforts made by the provincial technical committees up until the General Assembly of September 12.He then stated: "This General Assembly provides an opportunity to examine and discuss the food and nutritional situation in the region, and then to find the necessary measures through a synergy of actions between the actors involved in food and nutritional security. The 2023-2025 agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive aims to achieve food sovereignty. Consequently, I invite all actors to fully commit to succeed, to the happiness of the populations."Several communications were presented to the participants: a communicat ion on the decree establishing the creation, composition, attributions, organization and operation of the National Council for Food Security, another on the 2023-2025 agro-pastoral offensive, and one on the operational plan of the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive in the Northern region."The members of the technical committee of the Regional Food Security Council worked hard, sometimes until 6 p.m., to prepare this General Assembly. I thank all the statutory members of the technical committees for their active participation in the various sessions," said the regional director in charge of agriculture in the North, Alexis Constantin Toé.Mr. Toé concluded by welcoming the partners and particularly the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) which contributed financially to the holding of the General Assembly.At the end of the work, the recommendations made by the technical committee were amended and unanimously validated.Source: Burkina Information Agency
