Cascades/2024-2020 wet agricultural campaign: the governor of the Cascades region visits fields

The Governor of the Cascades region, Florent Badabouè Bazié, visited fields in the communes of Oueleni and Kankalaba on Monday, September 23, 2024, to see the achievements of producers. This visit is part of the 2024-2025 wet agricultural campaign and the agro-sylvo-pastoral offensive. For this 2024-2025 wet agricultural campaign, the governor of the Cascades region, Badabouè Florent Bazié, paid a visit to see the achievements of the producers of Sarkandiala in the Commune of Oueleni and djidara in the commune of Kankalaba.Indeed, several farms and a bovine unit were visited by the head of the Cascades region."I was instructed to come and encourage the producers and see what has been done on the ground and tell them to hold on so that together we can achieve the objectives set by the government as part of the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fishing offensive," explained the governor of the Cascades region. For him, the observation is that producers are committed to applying the cultural measures that they have been taught to pursue the visions of the Head of State which "is to produce enough to feed ourselves, that is to say to produce to achieve food self-sufficiency and to achieve food sovereignty."For Mr. Bazié, Burkina Faso imports many tons of rice each year, which costs billions of CFA francs, while "we have the possibility and the capacity to produce rice at home."For him, this is why, as part of the agro-sivo-pastoral and fishing offensive, the development of several lowlands in the Cascades region, a region with great water potential, is planned."Your commitment today shows us your adherence to the vision of the Head of State. Today, we expect a very large production from you which will be added to that of other regions of our country to drastically reduce the importation of rice. Because, we have understood that we can produce by ourselves and we must also consume what we produce, he added to the producers.According to the Regional Director in charge of agriculture in Cascades, Souobou Minyemba, a s part of the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fishing offensive in Cascades, producers are committed to the success of this offensive."Concerning this operation, 10,500 ha have been developed and instructions have been given to regional departments to ensure the development through the decentralized technical services. The sites that have been visited, we note that the crops are doing very well and the development has responded well. We are truly confident that the objectives will be achieved," he said.Source: Burkina Information Agency
