Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government honored the partners of the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) for their contributions to the event's success. The tribute took place on Thursday during the Partners' Night of the African Crafts Biennale.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister in charge of Crafts, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, emphasized the significance of the partners' support, which, along with the commitment of the nation's highest authorities, made the event possible. Mr. Poda highlighted that the ceremony was a solemn moment to acknowledge the partners who enabled Burkina Faso to successfully organize SIAO 2024.Mr. Poda remarked that the partners' commitment has showcased the exceptional skills of artisans and strengthened their integration into the regional and international economy. He expressed the government's gratitude to the partners for their valuable contributions and reiterated that SIAO is more than just a commercial event, representing creation, res ilience, and innovation in African craftsmanship.The Director General of the Burkinabe National Lottery (LONAB), Ibrahim Ben Harouna Zarani, stated that the event positions the country as a significant hub in the global craft sector. As the spokesperson for the partners, Mr. Zarani celebrated the cooperation and creativity of artisans and the cultural heritage of Burkina Faso and Africa.Robert Adam, the chargé d'affaires of the European Union (EU) delegation, congratulated Burkina Faso for hosting the international meeting. He highlighted the EU's interest in supporting the private sector and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, aiming to promote sustainable growth and job creation.Mr. Adam mentioned that the EU's support for SIAO 2024 amounted to more than 130 million FCFA. This contribution covered organizational costs, the mobilization of artisans from various regions, and the organization of live workshops.At the conclusion of the ceremony, partners received certificates of recog nition for their support in making the 2024 edition of SIAO a success.
