Dori: A popular civil-military cross-country race was organized as part of the commemorative events for the 64th anniversary of the National Armed Forces in Dori, aiming to strengthen integration and cohesion between the army and the nation.According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was orchestrated by the command of the 4th military region and took place on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Lieutenant-Colonel Bapio Kouayé Narcisse Bassinga, commander of the 4th military region and the Dori parade ground, stated that the race was intended to foster unity with the entire population.The activity provided an opportunity for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) to fraternize and demonstrate a collective effort against terrorism in Burkina Faso. The 4-kilometre race included over 500 participants from the FDS, VDP, and the local population of Dori, beginning and ending at the Liptako camp after traversing several streets in the city.The event conc luded with an aerobics session held at the 41st Commando Infantry Regiment in Dori. Lieutenant-Colonel Fabien Rodolphe Sorgho, governor of the Sahel region, emphasized that the FDS, VDP, and the population are integral parts of Burkina Faso, addressing security and development challenges as a unified entity.Lieutenant-Colonel Sorgho expressed gratitude to all participants for their involvement and the positive atmosphere during the event. Mr. Abdouramane Alhassane, regional director of the National Center for University Works and participant, noted the day's significance in fostering army-nation cohesion and promoting unity to combat terrorism.In support of the 64th-anniversary celebrations, traders in Dori offered a bull to the FDS.
