The AES Withdraws from the OIF

Ouagadougou: The Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) announced its decision to withdraw from the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). This move comes as a protest against what the AES describes as selective sanctions and a lack of respect for space sovereignty by the OIF.

According to Burkina Information Agency, AES officials made the announcement on Tuesday, expressing their dissatisfaction with the OIF's approach towards sanctions and its handling of issues related to sovereignty. The AES highlighted concerns over how these actions undermine the organization's principles and the interests of its member states.

The decision to withdraw marks a significant development in the relationship between the AES and the OIF, potentially affecting diplomatic and cultural ties within the Francophone community. The AES, through its withdrawal, aims to send a strong message regarding the importance of respecting the sovereignty and decisions of its member states.
