Ouagadougou: This Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, responsible for Relations with Institutions, organized a sanitation and reforestation operation along the Moogho Naaba canal linking the Cissin and Paglayiri neighborhoods. This activity, organized as part of the first phase of the 2025 edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizenship (JEPPC), aims to raise citizens' awareness of eco-citizenship and environmental preservation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, nearly 300 participants, including people carrying out community service and inmates of the High Security Prison (PHS), students from the National School of Prison Security Guards, members of civil society organizations, ministry staff, and local residents, responded to the call to contribute to the transformation of this space.
The operation was launched by the Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, who himself participated in the cleanup, thus highlighting the importance of individual commitment. This symbolic gesture aimed to encourage local residents and Burkinabe citizens to be more civicly engaged in their daily lives.
In his speech, Mr. BAYALA emphasized the importance of protecting and preserving the country for future generations, calling for strong patriotism and concrete civic actions to maintain a healthy and welcoming environment. According to him, this patriotic approach aims to make the Moogho Naaba Canal healthy, pleasant, and accessible, where people can gather for moments of relaxation and reading. "To love one's country is to defend, protect, and preserve our environment for future generations," he said.
A total of 60 seedlings were planted during this eco-citizenship morning. Beyond its environmental impact, this initiative is also part of a process to strengthen the values of civic responsibility. In a complex socio-economic context, this day of action instilled a spirit of active engagement in building a united and prosperous nation.
Citizen Action Day thus asserted itself as a call for unity, recalling that solidarity and civic-mindedness are essential pillars for building a sustainable and prosperous future for Burkina Faso. Under the mobilizing theme "For order and discipline in my city: I'm committed!", this cleanup and reforestation operation of the Moogho Naaba canal was an eloquent demonstration of solidarity and patriotism. By revitalizing this space, participants not only improved the local living environment but also actively promoted environmental sustainability.
This eco-responsible gesture demonstrates true patriotic solidarity and reminds us that every action, however modest, contributes to the common goal of creating a healthy and harmonious environment for all.
