Active Forces and VDP Unite Under National Flag for JEPPC Closing Ceremony

Ouagadougou: The closing ceremony of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) saw the active involvement of civil society and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), uniting under the national flag. This event marked the conclusion of a series of activities aimed at fostering patriotism and civic engagement within the community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony commenced with the traditional raising of the colors, a gesture that symbolizes a collective commitment to the nation. Inspector Bahiny Traore, representing the Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB), revisited last year's theme, "For Order and Discipline, I Commit," emphasizing its ongoing significance in the education of children.

As the event progressed, the focus shifted to the theme for the 2026 JEPPC: "My Plate, My Pride." Mr. Traore highlighted the importance of this theme, encouraging citizens to prioritize locally produced goods. He noted that President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso has urged citizens to exhibit patriotism in bolstering the national economy through local consumption.

Inspector Traore also reviewed the activities conducted over the past two weeks, noting the active participation of all schools in the Dokuy CEB. These schools engaged in various initiatives, including flag-raising ceremonies, clean-up drives, exhibitions of local products, and sessions aimed at promoting economic patriotism.

Over twenty schools initiated concrete actions to enhance civic education and raise awareness among students and the community. The President's message was effectively disseminated throughout the region, reinforcing the importance of supporting national production, particularly in the agri-food sector.

Hamadou Sangare, representing the parents, expressed his gratitude to the schools and teachers for their dedicated efforts. The school council office has committed to sharing the information and insights gained with families, ensuring that the impact of the JEPPC activities extends beyond the schools into the broader community.
