Ouagadougou: The sons and daughters of the Loroum province, united within the Association for the Development of the Loroum Province (ADPL), convened an extraordinary general assembly in Ouahigouya to revise their statutes and internal regulations. This assembly was a step towards aligning with the new law on freedom of association in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of ADPL, Issouf Porgo, stated that the assembly's goal was not only to adapt the association's texts to the new legal provisions but also to strengthen the urban sub-section of Ouahigouya. This sub-section is pivotal in leading the association's activities. Founded in 1999, ADPL aims to promote solidarity among the people of the province and support local development initiatives.

Discussions during the assembly centered on reaffirming commitment to the development of Loroum. Participants pledged support for the Titao Potato Festival, initiatives for peace, and educational efforts, especially for those affected by the security crisis. "This extraordinary general assembly allowed us to come together around the same table to discuss the concerns of our province, which has been severely affected," said Mr. Porgo. He called for unity, patriotism, and a collective commitment to the province's development.

Mahamadi Oudraogo, a member of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, attended the meeting and praised the initiative as a reflection of the association's respect for current legislation. He encouraged citizens to actively engage in development efforts and uphold values of solidarity and social cohesion.

Bintou Oudraogo, head of women's mobilization for the Ouahigouya urban sub-section, highlighted ADPL's role amidst the province's security challenges. She urged the sons and daughters of Loroum to join the association and aid its operations.
