Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Soum Province, Comrade Lossni 2nd Twin WONI, representing Comrade High Commissioner of the Soum Province, Wend Nere Wilfried TOUGMA, officiated the launch of the community activity known as 'DORAL' on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Djibo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Sports, Youth and Employment (DPSJE) of Soum in collaboration with the High Commission of Djibo, is set against the backdrop of the Dubai field in Djibo. Scheduled from July 18 to 19, 2026, the theme of the event is "Cultivating Peace and Resilience through Sport and Recreation," focusing on fostering social cohesion, community spirit, and resilience through sporting and recreational activities.
The organizers of 'DORAL' seek to enhance the bonds of fraternity, solidarity, and social cohesion among the residents and key stakeholders of the province by using sports and leisure activities as vehicles for peace, resilience, and communal living. The program features a variety of competitions, including p©tanque, checkers, Dily/War, cards, and ludo, offering participants a platform for sharing, cooperation, and healthy competition.
During the ceremony, Comrade Lossni 2nd Twin WONI emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting sport as a vital tool for uniting communities and an indispensable element in strengthening peace. He urged participants to embrace these two days as an opportunity for fraternity, mutual respect, and the promotion of civic values.
The launch was witnessed by administrative authorities, technical service heads, youth representatives, and numerous participants who gathered to endorse this initiative aimed at enhancing social cohesion in Soum province.
