P©rigban: The first edition of the public speaking competition organized by the P©rigban Students' Association (AEEP) achieved results "beyond expectations," according to its president, Sansan Mathieu Kambou. Commending the strong mobilization of education stakeholders and the quality of the candidates' performances, he indicated that this initiative aims to reveal the talents of young people and promote their civic engagement. The final, held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, around the theme "Gold panning: an obstacle to education and student success," crowned Ms. Auriane Kambou as the best speaker.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this first edition was a remarkable success marked by strong mobilization of students, teachers, parents, and the educational community. Mr. Kambou emphasized that the candidates demonstrated an excellent level of preparation, reflection, and public speaking, with a particularly remarkable participation of young women among the finalists.
He acknowledged that organizing the event faced challenges related to securing financial and material resources. However, thanks to the commitment of the association's members and the support of partners and local authorities, these challenges were overcome. For him, this competition is a springboard for young talents in the department. He announced that three winners will benefit from specific coaching in preparation for regional and national public speaking competitions.
The president of the AEEP also affirmed his association's commitment to continuing its actions in support of education through debate competitions, educational conferences, reading sessions, and school mentoring activities. Alongside the competition, a blood donation drive was organized by the association to help save lives and promote the values of solidarity and citizenship among young people. The initiative mobilized several volunteer donors from the community.
The final was won by Miss Auriane Kambou, distinguished as the best speaker of this first edition. Speaking after her victory, the winner confided that this distinction was the result of several months of preparation. "Since the competition was announced, I have trained with determination to be up to the occasion. This victory is a source of pride and encourages me to continue my efforts," she said. Congratulating the winner, Mr. Kambou encouraged her to persevere in order to represent P©rigban worthily in future competitions.
