Ouagadougou: The general management of the Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB) launched a five-day training session on Monday, August 18, 2025, in Ouagadougou, focusing on the major genres of journalism. The opening ceremony was chaired by AIB Director General, Ms. S©raphine Som© n©e Millogo, in the presence of the Secretary General, the Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Information. It brought together all AIB correspondents from different regions of the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director praised the participants' mobilization, reiterating the importance of this capacity-building meeting. She emphasized the unique context marked by security challenges and the demands of the journalism profession. The session, scheduled for August 18-22, covers major genres such as reporting, in-depth reporting, reportage, portraiture, as well as ethics and professional conduct. The objective is to provide correspondents with additional tools to improve their productions in the field.
The training includes theoretical modules and practical exercises through field trips. Participants will produce articles that will be corrected to reinforce their knowledge. The Director acknowledged the efforts already made by the correspondents, sometimes in difficult conditions, while urging them to fully commit to taking advantage of these five days of learning.
Following the opening remarks, a roundtable discussion and presentations by participants marked the official launch of the proceedings. The first module was led by the Director of Information, Apollinaire Abga. This initiative by the general management is part of the AIB's desire to strengthen the skills of its network of correspondents, ensuring more professional coverage adapted to the realities of the country.
