Bobo-dioulasso: Rahimo FC won the 33rd edition of the Super Cup of the Association of Sports Journalists of Burkina (AJSB) on Saturday at the Wobi stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso, defeating Vitesse FC on penalties (4-3) after a draw (1-1) at the end of regulation time.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this 33rd edition was held in the presence of the Minister of National Construction, Mikalou Sidib, as well as several regional authorities. In this all-Boigo derby, Rahimo FC, the Burkina Faso champions, opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Famah Djamiou. The Bama academy team thus went into halftime with this lead.

Upon returning from the locker room, Vitesse FC, winner of the Faso Cup, obtained a penalty in the 56th minute, converted by Assami Sansan Dah, allowing the Cheetahs of Accart-ville to come back level with their opponent.

The two teams were unable to break the deadlock for the remainder of the match. Ultimately, a penalty shootout was needed to determine the winner. More clinical in this exercise, Rahimo FC prevailed 4-3 and thus retains the trophy they won at the 32nd edition in 2025.

For AJSB President Ibrahim Diallo, it's another successful venture. "We are satisfied with this edition. Everything went well, both teams put on a fantastic show. We thank our partners and all those involved who contributed to the success of this 33rd edition," he declared.

This victory allows the Bobo-Dioulasso club to add another AJSB Super Cup to its record, at the end of a final which for the first time pitted two teams from Bobo-Dioulasso against each other.

In addition to the trophy, Rahimo FC pockets a sum of three million CFA francs, while Vitesse FC, the unfortunate finalist, leaves with two million CFA francs.

The 33rd edition of the AJSB Super Cup took place around several activities, including the Super Cup Village and a popular cross-country race, confirming the AJSB's desire to make the event an event that goes beyond just football.
