Sourou: The population of Sourou province nominated Alix Lamoukri, inspector of basic education, as their candidate for the People's Legislative Assembly (ALP) on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He pledged to remain attentive to the concerns of the people should he be definitively nominated at the regional level.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by the province's high commissioner, Desire Badolo, in the presence of key stakeholders as well as administrative and military authorities. Following his appointment, Mr. Lamoukri expressed a mixed feeling of emotion and responsibility. He stated, "I am driven by a sense of emotion and responsibility in view of the trust placed in me by all the people, but also in the face of the challenges our province faces and the legitimate expectations of citizens."

He indicated that this step constitutes a first phase of the process, specifying that the next step will allow the candidate for the region to be designated in Dedougou. However, he pledged to remain attentive to the concerns of the people and, if definitively appointed, to work towards an effective contribution to the process of reclaiming the territory in the region.

High Commissioner Desire Badolo welcomed the outcome of the consensus that led to the appointment of Mr. Lamoukri. He congratulated him and called on all stakeholders to avoid hate speech, to support the chosen candidate, and to promote social cohesion for a united and prosperous Sourou. Mr. Badolo finally urged the population to maintain this mobilization during major events, in order to support the fighting forces engaged in the reconquest of the territory.
