Ouagadougou: The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) launched a regional information and awareness workshop for media professionals in Nando, focusing on the role of local media in electronic communications regulation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop, held from July 23 to 24, 2026, aims to bridge the gap between ARCEP and the local population through enhanced collaboration with local media. Presiding over the opening ceremony on behalf of ARCEP’s Executive Secretary, technical advisor Comrade Sibiri Ouattara commended the active participation of journalists and media professionals. He emphasized ARCEP’s intention to make local media key partners in disseminating reliable information about electronic communications, postal services, and digital technology.

He encouraged participants to engage actively in discussions to deepen their understanding of ARCEP’s missions and regulatory issues. Over the two-day workshop, attendees will gain insights into ARCEP’s organization, sector reforms, consumer rights, service quality, complaint mechanisms, and challenges in digital technology and cybersecurity.

The workshop will also present ARCEP’s communication strategy to foster ongoing collaboration with the press. Officially inaugurating the event, Comrade Baba Barro, Regional Director of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism of Nando, expressed gratitude to ARCEP for selecting the region as the first venue for these workshops.
