Johannesburg: Around one hundred trees were planted on August 22, 2026, in Kouri, a village located 12 km from Pila, in the commune of Pila, during a reforestation activity that mobilized the population and the fighting forces based in the village. The activity took place in the health area of the Kouri Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS). Participants planted seedlings and installed protective devices around each one to promote their growth and protect them from animals.

According to Burkina Information Agency, men, women, and young people mobilized alongside the fighting forces to take part in this initiative focused on environmental protection and community resilience. For the participants, this reforestation is not only a concrete step towards restoring the vegetation cover, but also a symbol of the gradual return to life in the village.

The sponsor of the activity, Nadinga Yentema, emphasized this aspect by stating, "Beyond the regeneration of the vegetation cover, it is telling the whole world that the village of Kouri has been resettled and life has resumed there in the most beautiful way." Placed under the theme "Like the baobab, let us take root in resilience", the initiative thus combined environmental commitment and community mobilization.

The organizers called on the people to take ownership of the planted seedlings, in particular by ensuring their watering, maintenance, and protection, in order to guarantee their survival and allow this action to produce lasting results. Through this mobilization, the inhabitants of Kouri intend to contribute to the restoration of their environment while affirming their willingness to actively participate in the reconstruction and development of their community.
