Bobo-dioulasso: AS Dafra emerged victorious in the final of the 7th edition of the 'U15 Child Well-being' football tournament, organized by the "Association Bien-etre Enfant" (ABE). The event, held on the Lafiabougou multi-sports ground, saw AS Dafra face off against AS Wendpanga on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in a match aimed at promoting social cohesion among young people.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament, themed "Football, a factor of resilience and social cohesion," began on July 5 and included 16 teams. The organizers aimed to foster the development of young people, promote fraternity, and identify budding talents.
The final match was a spectacle, with AS Dafra, donning white, defeating AS Wendpanga, clad in blue, with an impressive score of 8-1. The event drew a significant audience, including local and traditional authorities, alongside enthusiastic supporters.
In recognition of their victory, AS Dafra was awarded 100,000 FCFA, a ball, and a set of jerseys. AS Wendpanga, the runners-up, received 50,000 FCFA, a ball, and a set of jerseys as well. Ali Porgo, the sponsor of the edition, commended the participants for their fair play and dedication, expressing joy in witnessing the young players' commitment and discipline.
Dominique Kouda, the tournament promoter, expressed satisfaction with both the quality of the game and the audience turnout, emphasizing the importance of such events for young people to express themselves.
In addition to the football festivities, the ABE planted 60 plants of four different varieties, aligning with local authorities' reforestation efforts. This combination of sports and civic responsibility concluded the tournament on a celebratory and socially constructive note, highlighting the role of sports in fostering social cohesion and resilience.
