Sandbondtenga/sport: Avenir FC of Kaya won the 25th edition of the maracana tournament of the Association of Youth for the Development of Kaya (AJDK) on Saturday, beating the Union Sportive des Commer§ants de Kaya (USCK) by 2 goals to 0, at the end of a competition under the sign of social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Avenir FC secured the trophy at the conclusion of a tournament that featured 32 teams from the city of Kaya. The event, which commenced on August 15, 2026, saw a total of 88 goals scored. Kassoum Oudraogo, the president of the organizing committee, commended the fair play exhibited throughout the competitions.

Avenir FC took home the trophy, along with a set of jerseys, a ball, and cash. In addition to the official prizes, special awards were presented to the most deserving teams and players.

Luc Thodore Sdogo, the association's president, stated that this sporting event is part of a series of activities aimed at supporting volunteer blood donors and enhancing social cohesion. A tree-planting session and a blood drive, which collected 96 units of blood for the Kaya blood donation center, were also organized alongside the tournament.

The lieutenant-colonel commanding the Kaya Artillery Group and Bishop Thophile Nar of Kaya, who served as sponsor and patron of the edition respectively, expressed their appreciation for the initiative through their representatives. They acknowledged it as a platform for "communion and mixing" among young people, in particular.
