Burkina faso: The High Commission of Kongoussi organized a collective breaking of the Muslim fast and the Christian Lent on Friday evening in Kongoussi, in order to promote peace and social cohesion in the province. The ceremony was attended by Zitenga Naba Tigr©, representing the traditional chiefs of Bam, Father Michel Sawadogo, representing the Christian community, and Cheick El Hadj Aboubacar Sana, representing the Grand Imam of Kongoussi.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his speech, the High Commissioner of Bam, Karim Ou©draogo, invited the participants to cultivate tolerance and solidarity between communities. 'We have invited you this evening to the High Commission for this collective breaking of the fast, because this year we have the grace to see the Muslim fast and the Christian Lent coincide. It is in a spirit of fraternity that we are gathered to pray for the return of peace and for the strengthening of peaceful coexistence between communities,' he said.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional chiefs, Zitenga Naba Tigr© praised the High Commission's initiative, which he said contributes to strengthening unity among the various segments of society. He called on the people to unite their efforts and will around the provincial authorities to work towards the return of peace, security, and social cohesion to Burkina Faso.
Father Michel Sawadogo also welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the unique nature of the current period, marked by the coincidence of the Muslim fast and the Christian Lent. For him, this convergence represents a blessed and favorable time for prayer, solidarity, and strengthening community ties between religious groups.
The representative of the Grand Imam of Kongoussi, Cheick El Hadj Aboubacar Sana, welcomed the mobilization of the people and the diversity of the participants. "The fact that different communities are united around a common goal is already a sign of God's presence," he said, before inviting those present to pray together for divine blessing for the return of peace and stability to the country.
The ceremony concluded with prayers and blessings for the return of peace, security and good social cohesion to Burkina Faso.
