The High Commissioner of Banwa province, Oumarou Sandwidi, installed the new provincial director of the environment in his position on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The provincial environment directorate of Banwa province has a new director. He was installed in his position on October 18, 2023 by the High Commissioner of the Banwa province, Oumarou Sandwidi, in front of provincial officials and department heads in Solenzo.

Indeed Pogbi Sakande who spent more than 5 years at the head of this direction gives way to Tegawendé Sompagnimdi Rodrigue Bagui Ouedraogo.

The outgoing provincial director affirmed that his time at the head of the environment was rich in lessons because many challenges were met.

“We were able to create 6 community forests, support 10 forestry cooperatives and collect revenues of more than 40 million FCFA for the benefit of the public treasury,” mentioned Mr. Sakande.

The new provincial director, Tegawendé Sompagnimdi Rodrigue Bagui Ouedraogo, thanked the authorities for the trust placed in him.

Mr. Ouédraogo assured to continue in the same vein as his predecessor in order to meet the challenges.

He sent a message at the end of the ceremony against the population who engage in excessive cutting of green wood, especially néré and shea.

“We all need to preserve and protect trees. We will raise awareness but then there will be sanctions,” he warned.
