Bittou: As part of the implementation of the electrification and electricity connection development project (PEDECEL 2), the company Projet Production International Burkina Faso SA (PPI BF SA) organized, on Friday in Bittou, an exchange and awareness meeting for the populations of the five sectors of the commune. The ceremony took place in the multipurpose hall of Bittou, presided over by Isidore Sare, First Vice-President of the Special Delegation of the municipality. Members of the Special Delegation, representatives of the municipality's civil society, representatives of the PEDECEL 2 project, the company PPI BF SA, and the defense and security forces were in attendance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, at the opening of the meeting, Mr. Sare expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities and to the technical and financial partners for their ongoing efforts to support the development of local communities, particularly through improved access to electricity. He noted that electricity is now an essential lever for the economic and social development of communities. 'Electricity fosters the creation of income-generating activities, improves learning conditions in our schools, strengthens services in our healthcare facilities, and contributes to improving the living conditions of the population,' he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of the awareness and information activities organized as part of the project. According to him, these meetings allow the community to be informed about the project's objectives, the progress of the work, the safety measures to be observed during construction, and the necessary arrangements for the implementation of the electrical infrastructure. Mr. Sare also invited the community's stakeholders to support the company in charge of the work to ensure the project's successful completion.
Speaking next, Linda Some, the independent consultant for the PEDECEL 2 project for PPI BF SA, praised the warm welcome and availability of the local authorities and the community. In her presentation, she outlined the project's objectives and expected outcomes for the beneficiary populations. She also emphasized the need for residents of the affected neighborhoods to exercise caution during the electrification work.
The PEDECEL 2 project covers six municipalities in the Centre-East and Centre-South regions and primarily focuses on informal settlements to improve access to electricity. At the end of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation of the project, which they consider a key factor in the development and growth of the Bittou municipality. The residents also expressed their satisfaction with the clarifications provided by project and company representatives regarding the various concerns raised during the discussions.
