Johannesburg: The president of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Kontogon, was received on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, by the chief of the canton of Bobo-Dioulasso who gave him his blessings for two major initiatives of the municipality: the second edition of the municipal cup for up-and-coming sports talent and the launch of a municipal web television, called Bobo-Dioulasso TV.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this approach is in keeping with customary values and the tradition of seeking the blessings of the chieftaincy before any large-scale activity. Laurent Kontogon indicated that this practice has always been successful in previous initiatives undertaken by the municipality.

Speaking about the second edition of the Municipal Youth Sports Cup, Laurent Kontogon recalled that the first edition had been a success, thanks, in his opinion, to the blessings of the canton chief. This is why he felt it necessary to repeat this approach before launching the new edition.

The PDS also presented the Bobo-Dioulasso TV project, a web television intended to strengthen the institutional communication of the municipality and to better inform the population about the actions carried out by the municipal administration.

Following the meeting, the canton chief of Bobo-Dioulasso gave his blessing to both projects and expressed his wishes for their success. He also commended the initiatives undertaken by the municipality, stating that he was following with interest the actions being taken to develop the city.
