Bobo-Dioulasso: The Burkinabè Association of Internet Domains adopts its work program

Bobo-Dioulasso, The board of directors of the Burkinabè Association of Internet Domains (ABDI) adopted on Thursday the work program and the budget for the year 2022 during its 3 rd Session of the year.

During the consultation, it emerged that the number of “.bf” domain names  rose to 1,850 names.

“The physical assessment in addition to the processing of 177 domain name application files, the administrative, technical and commercial management of the domain name registry is now the responsibility of ABDI since April 30, 2021”, indicated the chairman of the board of directors. administration of ABDI, Emmanuel Guigma,

The provisional budget balanced in income and expenditure for the year 2022 of the ABDI amounts to 504,111 2020 F CFA.

The association’s own income is estimated at 162,600,000 F CFA while the subsidies amount to 341,511,202 F CFA.

Of this budget, 353,360,302 CFA francs are provided for operating expenses and 150,750,900 CFA francs for investments.

The administrators also approved the program of activities which includes 88 actions grouped around five axes.

These axes are among others the register of domain names “.bf” , digital sovereignty, piloting and management.

In 2021, ABDI carried out activities such as statutory and regulatory consultation frameworks, the initiation of promotional operations and participation in digital events.

The Burkinabè Association of Internet Domains (ABDI) is a non-profit organization created by actors of the information and communication technologies sector of Burkina.

Its missions include, among other things, the management of “.bf” top-level domain names , the migration of IPv4 to IPv6 addresses, the promotion of local content on the Internet and the management of the Internet Development Support Fund at Burkina Faso.
