Bougouriba Launches 7th National Police Cup with Focus on Helmet Safety

Bougouriba: The 7th edition of the Bougouriba Provincial Director of the National Police Cup commenced at the Jean-Baptiste Ouattara Stadium in Di©bougou, featuring a theme centered on road safety: "Stop Road Incivility: Never Ride a Motorcycle Without My Helmet." The event aims to promote responsible road behavior and reinforce social cohesion among the local population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director of the National Police of Bougouriba, Rayangn©wend© Kabr©, emphasized the choice of theme due to the alarming rise in traffic accidents in the province. He stated that the systematic use of helmets could substantially mitigate the occurrence of such accidents.

The regional director of the National Police of Dj´r´, Pakindsama Ou©draogo, attended as the guest of honor and lauded the initiative for fostering security cooperation between citizens and law enforcement. He noted that this strategy aligns with the National Police's vision of working closely with the community.

The High Commissioner of Bougouriba Province, Amidou Konat©, officiated the ceremony and commended the tournament's role in enhancing social unity by bringing together various socio-professional groups. He expressed pride in supporting an event that encourages communal harmony.

The opening match, featuring the primary school team in orange against the National Police team in white with blue and red stripes, concluded in a 0-0 draw. While both teams had opportunities during the 25-minute halves, neither could score.

Ten teams will participate in this year's tournament, which will run for nearly a month at the Jean-Baptiste Ouattara Stadium, culminating in the final on August 1, 2026.
