Bouguouriba: Citizen Vigilance Equipped with Civic and Patriotic Awareness to Strengthen Its Action

Bougouriba: The municipal coordination of citizen watch associations of Diebougou organized a training session for its members in the town hall meeting room, aiming to enhance their capabilities and improve their contribution to social cohesion and security.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session included a presentation on patriotism and civic duty by Police Lieutenant Bªbª Da, with assistance from Sergeant Major Sande Harouna Barro, both from the central police station in Diebougou. The discussions centered on key civic values such as respecting laws, solidarity, and honoring the institutions and symbols of the Republic. Patriotic values, including national pride and participation in development, were also highlighted.

Lieutenant Da stressed the importance of respecting the Republic's institutions and state agents while supporting authorities' vision for Burkina Faso's total independence. He commended the quality of discussions, which addressed participants' concerns effectively.

Community watch group members raised issues regarding their security co-production role and intervention limitations. The spokesperson recommended increasing awareness of certain incivilities and fostering collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for complex situations.

The municipal coordinator explained that the session aimed to address observed shortcomings within the organization. "This training aims to refocus our actions. Today, we leave satisfied, with a renewed commitment to responsible oversight that respects laws and institutions," he said.

Participants expressed satisfaction, with Sami Habib Ouattara noting he gained new insights into the expected behavior of a citizen watch program member. "A member must be an exemplary, civic-minded, and patriotic citizen," he stated.

Established in September 2024, the Diebougou municipal coordination of citizen vigilance consists of ten operational units covering all sectors and villages within its jurisdiction. This training initiative seeks to enhance its ground effectiveness and contribute more significantly to social stability.
