Johannesburg: The municipality of Niaogho, Boulgou province, Nakamb region, recently hosted its Accountability Day for 2025 at the local town hall.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was led by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Niaogho, Comrade Karim Sana, and moderated by the High Commissioner of the Boulgou province, Comrade Constantin Dom¨gb¨gui¨re Dabir. It saw attendance from municipal authorities, local community leaders, technical and financial partners, and a large number of residents. The primary aim was to review municipal management, present the physical and financial balance sheets for 2025, and gather citizen concerns to ensure transparent governance.

Comrade Constantin D. Dabir, in his opening remarks, commended the municipality's proactive approach. He emphasized that accountability is a crucial institutional responsibility, expressing his support for the community's initiatives.

Comrade Karim Sana, representing the PDS, highlighted the year's accomplishments. With contributions from partners such as The Hunger Project Burkina Faso, mining company Kiaka SA, and SOROUBAT, significant infrastructure projects were completed. These included a new maternity ward at CSPS 1, a hangar at CSPS 2, and public latrine facilities.

Financially, the municipality saw a notable increase in its own revenues, rising from 53 million CFA francs in 2024 to over 85 million CFA francs in 2025. This exceeded the forecast of 49 million CFA francs, achieving a collection rate of over 165%.

During the event, residents expressed concerns, particularly about enhancing local connectivity by extending the public transport company's (SOTRACO) line to Niaogho. The PDS assured attendees that this issue would be communicated to the appropriate authorities.

The day concluded with the distribution of recognition certificates to contributors and partners, fostering a cooperative atmosphere.
