Ouagadougou: The women of Zoaga are satisfied with their renovated maternity ward, "making them want to give birth every year"
According to Burkina Information Agency, a son of the Zabr commune has renovated and equipped the maternity ward in the Zoaga commune. During the handover ceremony this Friday, July 17, in Zoaga, the women, overjoyed, declared they wanted to give birth every year.
Long plagued by outdated infrastructure, the maternity ward no longer puts the optimal conditions for the care of pregnant women. Faced with this situation, the CSPS Management Committee (COGES) sought the support of a benefactor, who agreed to finance the complete rehabilitation of the building and its equipment.
The donation includes five hospital beds, seven mattresses, and the complete renovation of the maternity ward, for a total estimated cost of nearly 3 million FCFA.
'When COGES approached me, I thought that the State cannot do everything. It is about helping our mothers, our sisters and our wives to give birth in good conditions. These are actions that bring great blessings,' said El Hadj Ousmane Gouba, known for several acts of solidarity, notably in favor of the Medical Center with surgical unit (CMA) of Zabr.
On behalf of the women of the commune, the communal women's coordinator, Zelloum Bonsa, expressed her profound gratitude to the donor. Moved by the quality of the work carried out, she stated, in a joyful tone, that "this brand new maternity ward makes us want to give birth every year," prompting applause from the audience.
Presiding over the ceremony, the president of the Zoaga Special Delegation, Bernard Yamogo, praised a highly patriotic gesture and called on the sons and daughters of the commune to follow this example.
"It is up to the people to develop resilient initiatives to support the efforts already made by the highest authorities. We must not expect everything from the State," he stressed.
The ceremony brought together the administrative and health authorities of the municipality, representatives of the traditional chieftaincy, the heads of decentralized services, as well as a large mobilization of women who came to show their gratitude to the generous donor.
For his part, El Hadj Ousmane Gouba stated that this gesture is first and foremost a duty of solidarity and not a display of wealth. He invited all people of goodwill to support initiatives in favor of health, believing that this sector concerns every citizen.
