Boulkiemd Inter-Service Tournament Concludes with Emphasis on Social Cohesion

Koudougou: The province of Boulkiemd experienced, on Saturday, the culmination of the 5th edition of the inter-service maracana tournament. Launched on July 25th, this competition closed its doors at the end of an emotionally charged day, marked by community spirit, solidarity, and the strengthening of professional ties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the High Commissioner of the province, Salimata Oudraogo/Sanou, and sponsored by Boubacar Berewoudougou. It brought together administrative, military, paramilitary, customary, and religious authorities, as well as a large public. The head of the provincial administration praised the strong mobilization of workers in both the public and private sectors, paying tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their efforts to secure the national territory.

Flix Oudraogo, chairman of the organizing committee, reported a satisfactory outcome of the activities. With participation from 10 teams, 24 matches were played, and 53 goals were scored over the weeks. A major innovation this year was the inclusion of a ptanque tournament, which broadened the sporting program and united public and private sector employees.

Sponsor Boubacar Berewoudougou emphasized that such initiatives are vital for uniting administrations, breaking professional barriers, and fostering team spirit. The competition concluded with the grand final of maracana and the presentation of awards. The National Fire Brigade (BNSP) emerged victorious, receiving 100,000 FCFA, a trophy, a ball, jerseys, and kits from the Commercial Bank of Burkina (BCB).

The complete ranking rewarded other teams as well, with the Primary Education team taking second place, followed by the third and fourth place teams. Teams placing fifth to tenth received rewards, and participants left with a sense of satisfaction, looking forward to the 6th edition.
