Ouagadougou: The 53rd promotion of the national police, called 'Citizen Participation', with 777 people, made its official exit on Friday and provides reinforcement in the fight against insecurity in Burkina Faso.According to the Director General of the National Police Academy (ENP), Roger Ouédraogo, the 2024 vintage of the ENP called 'Citizen Participation' provides reinforcement in this context of the fight against terrorism.Mr. Ouédraogo, also Inspector General of Police, specified that the 53rd promotion is made up of 745 student non-commissioned officers from the national police, 32 people from the municipal police including 7 controllers and 25 assistants.The first head of the ENP spoke on Friday in Ouagadougou, during an official ceremony of his institution under the presidency of the Prime Minister, Dr. Apollinaire Joachinsom Kyèlem de Tambèla.Dr. Kyèlem, through the signing of the guestbook, paid tribute to these men and women who dedicate their lives to the security of their fellow citizens while saluting their bravery on the ground.He also specified that the police officers received technical and practical training for 2 years through modular courses to carry out their mission of securing and protecting property and people.Roger Ouédraogo underlined that in view of the current security context, innovations have been introduced into training in order to enable the 'cops' to respond to the demands of the moment in the fight against the terrorist hydra.The Minister in charge of Security, Émile Zerbo, for his part indicated that the success of strategies or weapons depends on the quality of the police officers who implement or use them on the ground.For Mr. Zerbo, they would be ineffective if the people involved in the fight do not have the technical skills and human qualities necessary to lead it.The minister also welcomed the approach of the ENP which constitutes an essential link in the implementation of the security policy and particularly the fight against terrorism.'I encourage th ose responsible for the ENP in this process of reforms of the initial training and specialization of non-commissioned officers in order to strengthen the practice and specialization of police officers in the different areas of the national police for greater efficiency ", he said.The godfather of the ceremony, Police Commissioner Mahamoudou Sana, welcomed the choice made on his modest person by his godchildren and expressed the hope that these brave men will contribute to a return of peace and security in the country.According to Mr. Sana, Minister Delegate in charge of Security, the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, despite the budgetary constraints that Burkina faces, continues to recruit and train competent men for the defense of the homeland .In terms of advice, the godfather urged his godchildren to be, among other things, courageous, imaginative, innovative, creative, to banish routine and to maintain a thirst for success.The class delegate, Laurent Sabdano, took this opportun ity to request the construction of amphitheaters and dormitories to allow learners to be in the best possible conditions for learning.Mr. Sabdano also commended the authorities and top management of the school for their invaluable support in completing their training.Created on May 6, 1970, the ENP has made thousands of agents available to the Burkinabe public administration and other African countries to serve the populations.Source: Burkina Information Agency
