Accra:Burkina Faso and the World Bank Group have officially launched a new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for the years 2026-2031. This initiative is aligned with the National Development Plan 'RELANCE' 2026-2030, focusing on key areas such as health, education, energy, and agricultural productivity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Burkinabe government views this framework as a tool to support national priorities. The framework aims to enhance cooperation with the World Bank, particularly in health and education, energy access, and food security.
The Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fatoumata Bako/Traor, highlighted that the CPF will help mobilize necessary skills, funding, and expertise. The primary focus will be to strengthen human capital by improving access to essential social services, and to enhance business development through better electricity access.
Agricultural productivity is another key focus, with plans to use agriculture as a driver for economic transformation. The framework's flexibility allows it to adapt to the country's evolving needs and context.
Ousmane Diagana, the World Bank Vice President for West and Central Africa, emphasized the strategy's focus on consolidating achievements, promoting growth, and fostering job creation for young people. He noted the participatory nature of the framework's development, which involved evaluating the previous framework and engaging in dialogue with the Burkinabe government.
Diagana also acknowledged Burkina Faso's efforts in mobilizing domestic resources, stressing that external funding alone is insufficient to meet all development needs. He recalled that despite challenges such as security and humanitarian crises, the previous framework achieved results in education, health, energy, and agriculture.
