Ouagadougou: Energy expert and author Abdoulaye Kabor has praised the Burkinabe authorities for their recent efforts in the energy sector and urged for continued massive investments to enhance the country's energy sovereignty, which he sees as vital for development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Kabor highlighted the strategic importance of energy in transforming Burkina Faso's economy. In an interview, he emphasized the necessity of sustained investments in the energy sector, stating, "If there is plenty of energy, there will be plenty of development. It's obvious."
Despite the country's challenging security situation, Kabor notes that Burkina Faso remains an appealing destination for industrial investors, leading to a rising energy demand. He remarked on the paradox of the situation, as more industrial units are being established despite the crisis, increasing the need for energy.
Kabor argues that investing in energy infrastructure should be prioritized without excessive deliberation. He believes that the benefits of such investments will become apparent over time, benefiting various socio-economic sectors and improving living conditions.
He also emphasized the importance of basing these investments on rigorous technical analyses and reliable data, cautioning against making decisions based on biased information. Kabor advocates for energy policies that align with Burkina Faso's needs and ambitions, independent of external pressures.
Highlighting the critical role of energy in national development, he insists that energy is fundamental to growth. With over two decades of experience at Burkina Faso's National Electricity Company (SONABEL), Kabor brings significant expertise to his advocacy.
His first essay, published by il Livres, delves into Burkina Faso's energy challenges and suggests strategies to bolster national energy sovereignty. The book, priced at 5,000 FCFA, marks the beginning of Kabor's literary journey, which he plans to continue.
