Gaoua:The second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) was officially launched on Monday in Gaoua with a traditional flag-raising ceremony. The event emphasized prioritizing the production and consumption of Burkinabe products.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by Siaka Barro, the governor of the Djr region, and took place in the courtyard of the 15th fire and rescue company of the National Fire Brigade. The theme for this phase, "Let's produce Burkinabe, let's consume Burkinabe," aims to promote locally made products.
A message from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, was delivered by the Governor, urging Burkinabe citizens to focus on producing, processing, and consuming local products to strengthen the country's economic independence. The president highlighted the need to exploit land and water resources, support producers, and enhance local processing of raw materials like cotton, shea, sesame, and mango to create added value and jobs.
The message also encouraged the population to favor local products such as national rice, soumbala, Faso Dan Fani, and Kk Donda, and called on government bodies to demonstrate national preference in public procurement and canteens. Citizens were also urged to combat fraud and smuggling and to contribute to land restoration through activities like tree planting.
The presidential message concluded with a call to action "In the fields, let's produce Burkinabe! In the factories, let's process Burkinabe! At the markets, let's buy Burkinabe! At the table, let's consume Burkinabe." The raising of the national colors officially marked the start of the activities for this second phase of the JEPPC in the Djr region.
