Toma Teachers Urged to Turn Knowledge into Practical Skills

Toma:Nayala The president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Toma, Zakaria Sawadogo, has urged teachers of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Toma to focus on transforming students' knowledge into practical skills. This call was made during the opening of their pedagogical conference.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference, which will last four days, centers on the theme "Developing and utilizing integration situations." Participants will also explore topics such as the "decolonization of knowledge, the endogenization of curricula, and the teaching of history, geography, and civic and moral education."

Zakaria Sawadogo, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, encouraged teachers to adopt techniques for developing, delivering, and evaluating integration situations alongside the endogenized curriculum content. He emphasized the importance of schools in rebuilding Burkina Faso by fostering enlightened, hardworking, and honest citizens.

He highlighted the necessity for learning that allows students to apply their knowledge practically. The PDS commended the CEB of Toma for its achievements in the 2025-2026 school year, with a 98.49% success rate in the CEP and a 100% success rate in non-formal education.

Zakaria Sawadogo also encouraged stakeholders to continue their efforts, particularly in teaching mathematics, focusing on operations and problem-solving. Bruno Ky, head of the CEB of Toma, stressed the importance of students using their knowledge in real-world situations.

Bruno Ky urged participants to utilize the conference's four days to enhance their understanding of integration situations and to engage in experience sharing and constructive debates. A letter of congratulations from the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Nayala, Thomas Garan, was presented to Bruno Ky.

Comrade Garan encouraged participants to leverage the training to enhance their professional practices and appealed to the patriotism of education stakeholders to volunteer in addressing teacher shortages in other municipalities within the province. This educational conference aims to empower Toma's teachers to effectively convert knowledge into practical skills, improving the quality of learning.
