Burkina Faso Soldier Transforms Battlefield Experiences into Compelling Poetry

Ouagadougou: Adjutant Abdoul Rasmane Wendpakisde Ouedraogo dedicated his debut poetry collection, 'Under the Star of the Sahel', inspired by his frontline experiences and the indomitable spirit of the Burkinabe people, on Monday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the collection, divided into lamentations, resilience, and hope, captures the scars, pains, and enduring hopes of a nation facing formidable challenges. Ouedraogo, a Warrant Officer, shared that the inspiration for his work came after the attack on Arbinda on August 18, 2021, a pivotal moment that deeply impacted him both as a soldier and a human being.

The dedication ceremony was graced by Abdou Moumouni Ouedraogo, who commended the author's initiative, describing it as a testament to Burkinabe bravery and creativity. "My dear godson, by publishing 'Under the Star of the Sahel', you add a precious stone to the edifice of our Nation. You prove that a man of duty can also be a man of letters," he remarked.

The poetry collection is available at various sales points, including bookstores, libraries, and grocery stores, at a unit price of 3000 CFA francs. This literary work by Adjutant Abdoul Rasmane Wendpakisde Ouedraogo not only enhances the national literary scene but also conveys a message of hope and peace for Burkina Faso.
