Ouagadougou: The Boussim family convened in the 1200 Logements district at the residence of Professor Issaka Joseph Boussim, with approximately fifty members in attendance from various parts of Burkina Faso and abroad. The gathering was initiated with a moment of silence to honor deceased family members, followed by participant introductions. The agenda included the presentation of New Year's greetings, the establishment of a transition committee, and other business matters.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the outgoing president, Salif Boussim, who serves as the chief of staff to the minister in charge of Energy, commenced the speeches by wishing health, success, and solidarity, sentiments echoed by eight other members. He highlighted the crucial role of AKDS as a platform for reunions, mutual aid, and support, particularly for students and younger family members, emphasizing the need to ensure no Boussim feels neglected.
Antoinette Salouka/Boussim, the association's treasurer, commended the members for their commitment and mobilization. Professor Boussim, regarded as the family's elder statesman, conveyed his contentment with the meeting's turnout and outcomes, urging greater involvement from the youth and women in association activities.
Simon-Pierre Boussim, former Minister in charge of Energy, encouraged the younger generation, especially students, to frequently visit Professor Boussim's home for guidance and support, drawing on shared past experiences.
The second agenda point focused on forming a transitional board to rejuvenate the association. Following amiable discussions, a nine-member board was elected, led by Dr. Diakim Boussim. The incoming president expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him and called for active participation from all members to connect 'Boussim' globally.
The newly elected board also aims to enhance social initiatives supporting widows and orphans. The meeting concluded in a warm, familial atmosphere, featuring family photographs and a communal meal, signaling a fresh start for AKDS.
