Ouagadougou: The Homeland Defense Front (FDP) held a public conference on Saturday focusing on religious and customary reforms, national sovereignty, and the empowerment of the population, as part of the national refounding initiative led by the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP). "In a state where the people do not know the vision of their rulers, this people becomes a danger to governance," emphasized Lassan Sawadogo, the national coordinator of the FDP, highlighting the conference's aim to enlighten citizens on governmental orientations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Sawadogo asserted that it is crucial for those who understand the vision of the President of Faso to engage the population and involve knowledgeable personalities to raise awareness about the authorities' directives and the envisioned path forward. He further stated that the event was organized to counter manipulations, accusations, and to neutralize adversaries.
The conference, themed "Religious and customary reforms, national sovereignty and empowerment of populations: understanding social changes and supporting the dynamics of national refounding," delved into the roles of religious and customary communities in social transformation, Burkina Faso's quest for sovereignty, and the interplay between religion, spirituality, and social refounding.
Dramane Konat, a semiologist-writer, and speaker at the event, discussed the reforms in tangible and intangible cultural heritage. He emphasized the importance of making secularism a widely shared and well-explained principle in Burkina Faso through suggestions and recommendations.
The gathering also served as a platform to reiterate the RPP's vision and address criticisms and misinformation circulating on social media. Lieutenant-Colonel Lassane Porgo, commander of the second military region and RPP lecturer, highlighted the necessity for the population to understand and support the state's logic to transform Burkina Faso into an Eldorado.
"In a revolution, it's about rebuilding, and to rebuild that foundation, to reconstruct better, there are bricks that aren't good, that we'll break or throw away. There are also bricks that we'll keep. But it's always to build better, to construct better," explained Lieutenant-Colonel Porgo, underscoring the essence of refounding and rebuilding with robust foundations.
