Ouagadougou: The Sufi community of Burkina Faso, led by its guide, Cheick Moaze Ou©draogo, paid a visit on Tuesday to Mogho Naaba Baongo to present their wishes on the occasion of the Tabaski festival and to salute the constant commitment of the traditional leader to peace, social cohesion and living together.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Sufi guide, Cheick Moaze Ou©draogo, emphasized that the ideals defended by the Mogho Naaba, including peace, mutual respect, and acceptance of others, align with the values promoted by the Sufi community. He highlighted that peace cannot be achieved solely through religious practices, but also through mutual respect between different communities. “Nothing can bring peace to our country except forgiveness, acceptance of others, and respect for others,” the spiritual leader affirmed.

The head of the Sufi community called on the people of Burkina Faso to overcome religious and ethnic divisions, to banish hatred, and to promote living together, which he considers the foundation of peace and sustainable development in Burkina Faso. The Mogho Naaba, through his spokesperson, welcomed this initiative and urged the people of Burkina Faso to cultivate tolerance, mutual respect, and acceptance of differences. He also emphasized respect for authority, the education of children, and the role of parents in their upbringing.

During this audience, Cheick Moaze Ou©draogo offered the traditional chief a pigeon and a camel, two animals laden with strong symbolic significance. According to him, the pigeon represents peace, a value particularly sought after in the context of the security challenges facing Burkina Faso, while the camel symbolizes wisdom, patience, and resilience. The Sufi leader indicated that this gift was intended to encourage the Mogho Naaba to continue his efforts alongside the authorities and the people of Burkina Faso for the return of peace.
