Houet: The promoters of the musical comedy ‘Sya an ka soo, h¨r¨ soo’, created as part of the celebration of the centenary of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso (1926-2026), launched an appeal Monday evening in Bobo-Dioulasso to authorities, partners, and patrons to mobilize nearly 50 million FCFA for the realization of the full version of the show scheduled for next December.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the musical comedy “Sya An Ka Soo H¨r¨ Soo,” which recounts the history, identity, and cultural richness of the town as part of its centenary celebrations (1926-2026), premiered in Bobo-Dioulasso this Monday evening at the central town hall. The artistic work is produced by the Sinidjigui and Siraba associations.
“What you saw tonight is just a taste of what’s to come. The full version planned for December will involve more than 100 artists, traditional and modern musicians, storytellers, acrobats, as well as scenography and open-air broadcasting,” explained the project’s leader, Fid¨le Dabir©, alias Delfy.
The next phase of the project will be led by Diafod© Alexandre Kaba Diakit©, president of the Federation of Cultural, Communication and Event Companies of Sya. According to him, they have big plans and dreams for Bobo-Dioulasso’s centenary.
“The challenge now is to finalize this monumental work so that it can be presented in all its fullness during the centenary celebrations, and this will require a budget estimated at around 50 million FCFA,” he stressed.
To this end, Comrade Diakit© has launched an appeal to the authorities, patrons, public and private partners, and the population to support them in obtaining the sum in order to better finalize the project.
The show, which premiered this Monday evening in Bobo-Dioulasso, is the result of seven months of historical research, collecting testimonies from elders, griots, anthropologists, and guardians of collective memory.
The promoters hope that this large artistic mural will contribute to strengthening social cohesion, enhancing the cultural heritage of Bobo-Dioulasso, and leaving a lasting mark on the centenary celebrations of the municipality.
The project benefited from the support of the Burkinabe Fund for Economic and Social Development (FBDES), with financial support from Swiss cooperation.
On behalf of FBDES, Issa Barry praised the quality of the project and its potential to transmit history and cultural heritage to younger generations.
“Out of more than 500 applications received, this project was selected because of its relevance, its focus on youth, and the seriousness demonstrated by the project leaders in its implementation,” he emphasized.
Present at the ceremony, the president of the special delegation of the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Kontogom, congratulated the initiators for the quality of the artistic creation and for the transmission of cultural memory and social cohesion.
