Ouagadougou: The Association of Muslim Students of Burkina Faso (AEEMB) and the Circle for Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) gathered on the campus of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University to celebrate the Eid al-Adha festival, with a focus on peace, solidarity, and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Tabaski prayer was conducted by Imam Ti©ogo Tiemtor©, who encouraged the Burkinabe people to embrace responsibility, patriotism, and a commitment to peace in his sermon. He emphasized that serving one’s country is a key aspect of faith and that helping others is a form of worship. Imam Tiemtor© called on citizens to foster unity, uphold justice, support good governance, and combat corruption.

The imam also extended prayers for students during their examination period and for the forces involved in reclaiming the country’s territory. Bazoumana Ouattara, president of the university representation of the AEEMB, praised the event for its spirit of sharing and fraternity among both Muslim and non-Muslim students. He highlighted the sermon’s central message advocating social cohesion and promoting peace, particularly within social media platforms.

Muslim worshippers at the event expressed their happiness in celebrating despite the ongoing security challenges. They showed support for the fighting forces and offered prayers for the restoration of peace in Burkina Faso.
