Burkina: Football, Komsilga healing case trial and obituary on the daily menu

This Thursday’s Burkinabè dailies echo the alleged death of Wagner’s leader in a plane crash, the postponement of the trial of the Komsilga healer case and the unveiling of the list Stallions who will face Eswatini on September 8.

The dean of the private Burkinabè dailies, L’Observateur Paalga, published on its front page: Burkina / Eswatini of September 8: “the players selected must seize their chance”.

The newspaper informs that in this list of 25 players, we note the absence of Bertrand Traoré and Franc Lassina Traoré, the return of Mohamed Konaté and the selection of the young doorman Sébastien Tou.

In the same vein, the national daily Sidwaya reports that Burkina Faso will play the last day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers next September against Eswatini in Marrakech and a few days later a friendly match against Morocco in Lens, France, September 12.

The newspaper continues that after the last group matches, the supreme body of African football, CAF, will draw lots for the different groups of the final stages.

And to recall that the African National Cup (CAN) Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will be played from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

In another chapter, the daily newspaper Le Pays titles on its front page: TGI Ouaga II: “Provisional freedom refused to Adja de Komsilga, the trial postponed to September 6th”.

The Country indicates that postponed last August 9 to August 23, 2023, the trial of Larissa Nikiéma known as Adja de Komsilga was again postponed to September 6, 2023 at the request of one of the defense lawyers, Me Ouattara who is newly constituted with certain defendants in the file.

Sidwaya adds that the request for provisional release will not be to the liking of the prosecution which reacts in these terms “While tens, hundreds of people die as they say…, we reject this request for provisional release”.

“Presumed death of Wagner leader: Did Putin shoot his war dog? asks L’Observateur Paalga in its column “L’Regard sur l’actualité”.

The newspaper reports that at the edge of the burning aircraft which ended up in a field, there were, according to the authorities, 9 other people including the other boss of Wagner, Dmitri Outkin.

But knowing the logic of Russian power, it would not be surprising if Vladimir Putin embraced this adage that revenge is a dish best served cold.

The Country recalls that in June, he led a rebellion with his men against Moscow.
