Ouagadougou, Fasocheck platform journalist Simbo Harouna Drabo has been crowned winner of the Speak Up Africa 2021 Leadership Award ”, a first for an African journalist and for a Burkinabè citizen, learned the ‘AIB to the interested party.
“This distinction beyond the borders of my country, Burkina Faso, is a recognition of the usefulness and the great scope of our collective daily work in Fasocheck for the building of an enlightened African public opinion on the big issues of the continent and the world, ”wrote Simbo Harouna Drabo on Tuesday on his Facebook page.
Fasocheck is the first factchecking platform launched in December 2019 with the support of the Deutch Welle Akademie and the German Ministry of Cooperation.
“Being a recipient of the Speak Up Africa Leadership Award calls us and challenges us to redouble our efforts in the citizen co-construction of the Africa of the Africa of our dreams,” said Simbo Harouna Drabo.
Launched in 2019, the Speak Up Africa Leadership Award includes heads of state, key decision-makers and community leaders whose voices are heard.
Based in Dakar, Senegal, Speak Up Africa is a nonprofit strategic communication and advocacy organization dedicated to catalyzing African leadership, fostering policy change and raising awareness around sustainable development in Africa.
