Burkina: Terrorism, peace effort, health and sport on the cover of newspapers

This Tuesday's Burkinabé dailies mention on their front page the fight against fraud, the qualification of stallions for the semi-finals of the UFOA-B U20 boys' cup, without forgetting the support for the peace effort by the diaspora and the fight against terrorism.

"Zone of the three borders: 2 terrorist leaders wanted in Burkina captured by the Nigerian and French armies", headlines the private daily Today in Faso which also publishes the image of the two arrested individuals.

The information is also given by Le Pays through the ''Nouvelles du front'' where it mentions that "two terrorists whose heads were put at a price by Burkina, arrested by the Nigerian and French armies".

In this regard, L'Express du Faso, a private daily published in Bobo-Dioulasso, posts this question: “Arrests in Niger of wanted terrorist leaders: will Burkina claim them? ".

According to the Bobolais newspaper, they are Abou Maryam alias Zaïd and Sita Ousseini alias Loukoumane who are two terrorist leaders who are members of the EIGS very actively sought after.

From another angle, the public daily Sidwaya mentions on its front page: "Peace effort: The diaspora brings more than 42 million FCFA".

The newspaper informs that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, Olivia Rouamba, chaired yesterday Monday in Ouagadougou a ceremony for the delivery of donations from Burkinabè in the diaspora for the peace effort.

According to Sidwaya, the Burkinabè of the diaspora have made their hearts speak for the benefit of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), in the framework of the Head of State's appeal for patriotic support.

On this same subject, the private daily L'Observateur Paalga headlines: "Support for the peace effort: The diaspora flies to the aid of the motherland", stressing that the gesture is also made up of food, clothing, toys and other materials.

It is right that the newspaper Le Quotidien lets read on its front page: "Support for the peace effort: the Burkinabè diaspora donates more than 42 million CFA in cash and donations in kind".

As for L'Express du Faso, it points out that, coming from Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, Greece and the United States, these sons and daughters of the country responded to the patriotic appeal launched by the head of the Transition.

In another section, the private newspaper Le Pays mentions on its front page: "Fight against the trafficking of prohibited drugs: 21.5 tons of counterfeit drugs incinerated".

Le Pays reports that on the morning of Monday, July 10, 2023, the technical services of the town hall of the municipality of Bobo -Dioulasso in collaboration with the Regional Services of the Judicial Police (SRPJ) of the city proceeded to the incineration of medicines prohibited unfit for consumption, seized in the central market of the said city.

On this same subject, Sidwaya reports that the operation carried out by the Regional Judicial Police Services (SRPJ) in the central market of the economic capital of the country made it possible to seize 21,740 tons of contraband products, with an estimated value of CFAF 1,897,920,000.
