Burkinabe Consumption Highlighted at Flag-Raising Ceremony

Guiguemtenga:The monthly flag-raising ceremony took place at the 'Wendpuiir Excellence' school complex in Guiguemtenga, focusing on the theme 'Let's produce Burkinab, let's consume Burkinab'.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by Samad Lonard Gougou, President of the Special Delegation of Koubri. It gathered administrative, paramilitary, customary, and religious authorities, along with hundreds of students. The ceremony was part of the 2nd phase of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation, running from October 2 to 16, 2026, initiated by President Captain Ibrahim Traor.

The ceremony featured the raising of the national flag, led by police officer Sibiri Neya, with the Ditany sung by the students, fostering a sense of pride and enthusiasm. Following the flag-raising, Gougou read a message from the President of Faso, encouraging increased local food production, processing, and consumption of domestically made products.

Gougou emphasized the importance of local consumption in his speech, urging the people of the commune to adopt buying local as a regular practice, especially in food and clothing. He highlighted the link between local consumption and the fight against imperialism, advocating for food, economic, cultural, and political sovereignty.

He concluded by stressing that patriotism should extend beyond speeches and ceremonies, influencing daily decisions that support the national economy.
