Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) president, Oumarou Sawadogo, announced a significant financial boost for football clubs in Burkina Faso. Speaking at the opening of the ordinary general assembly in Ouagadougou, Sawadogo revealed plans to double the subsidies for clubs and increase the prizes for all championships organized by the federation, starting from the 2026-2027 season.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the decision to increase financial support aims to bolster club operations, enhance competitive play, and incrementally boost investment in Burkinabe football. The prize for the national champion will rise from twelve million five hundred thousand to twenty-five million CFA francs. Meanwhile, subsidies for Division 1 clubs will increase from fifteen million to thirty million CFA francs. Division 2 clubs will see their subsidies doubled from two million five hundred thousand to five million CFA francs. The women's championship will also benefit, with subsidies rising from three million five hundred thousand to seven million CFA francs.

President Sawadogo emphasized that this financial enhancement is intended to better support clubs and elevate the quality of football within the nation. These changes reflect the FBF's commitment to fostering a more competitive and resource-rich football environment in Burkina Faso.
