Ouahigouya: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Thiou officially launched its sports and cultural activities for the 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the field of sector 2 of Ouahigouya, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by Boureima Ouedraogo, the prefect and president of the special delegation of the commune of Thiou. Over the following months, students from this CEB, relocated to the city of Naaba Kango, will participate in various team and individual sports, as well as cultural disciplines, all under the guidance of their teaching staff.
The Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Thiou, Marcelin Ouedraogo, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and encouraged partners and the educational community to continue their commitment to ensuring the season's success. He emphasized the importance of sport and culture in fostering social cohesion.
Moussa Porgo, representing the provincial director of primary education, praised the resilience of parents, students, teachers, and supervisors. He urged everyone to work together to make the sports and cultural season a success.
The season's opening football match saw the team from the "Nerwaya" site triumph with a score of two goals to zero against the team from the "Gondolgo 1" site.
