Sourou: Christian faithful in the town of Tougan celebrated the resurrection of Christ on Sunday, April 5, 2026, under the sign of his victory over death, while imploring the Lord for a definitive return of peace and security to Burkina Faso and the world.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Eucharistic celebration of Easter took place at the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption in Tougan. It was presided over by Father Germain Guimbou, who placed this celebration under the sign of Christ's victory over death and the hope of a definitive return of peace.
Father Guimbou highlighted that Easter symbolizes the passage from death to life, from suffering to joy, and from darkness to light. He explained that this victory of Christ over death and of good over evil was celebrated since Easter night and continued through the morning, symbolized by the light that emerged in the heart of darkness.
In his homily, Father Guimbou expressed the wish that this victory of Christ over death would help to bring lasting peace to Burkina Faso. He conveyed faith that peace would return through Christ's triumph over death and evil.
Kampin Cecile, a newly baptized Christian, expressed gratitude to God for completing her catechism program, which she believes strengthens her Christian faith. She shared her hope that Christ's resurrection would bring peace, security, and tranquility to Sourou province and throughout Burkina Faso.
The priest celebrating noted that a total of 158 faithful, including 74 adults and 84 children, received the sacraments of baptism, first communion, and confirmation during this Easter celebration.
