OSCLEP Launches Activities in Gorom-Gorom 2 to Promote Peace and Resilience Through Sports

Burkina faso: The Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) for Oudalan, Housseini Moukaylou Maga, addressed attendees in Gorom-Gorom at the launch of activities for the Organization of Sport and Culture in Primary Schools (OSCLEP) in the Gorom-Gorom 2 Basic Education District (CEB). Maga highlighted the importance of solidarity, mutual support, and tolerance, which are cultivated through sports, as vital components for societal living.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event is themed "Sport and culture in schools: drivers of unity, peace and resilience for a high-performing school." Moussa Alzouma, head of the district, emphasized the collective commitment to fostering a quality, inclusive, and resilient educational environment. He stressed the role of sport and culture in enhancing social cohesion and civic education among students, promoting responsible behavior.

Jacques Kambou, Secretary General of OSCLEP, underscored the significance of discipline, team spirit, perseverance, and respect for others. He encouraged students to showcase brotherhood and camaraderie during the competitions.

Djibrilla Boukari Maga, representing the president of the special municipal delegation of Gorom-Gorom, reiterated the community's dedication to supporting schools sustainably, aiming to strengthen citizenship, social cohesion, and patriotism. The DPEPPNF reiterated that education is the pathway to transformation, with sport playing a crucial role in reinforcing social cohesion.

The launch ceremony featured performances by school troupes and a gala match between teachers from CEB Gorom-Gorom 1 and Gorom-Gorom 2, which concluded in a one-all draw. The organizing committee praised the robust participation of schools, reflecting the CEB Gorom-Gorom 2's dedication to fostering a high-performing, resilient school environment rooted in peace and social cohesion.
