Ouagadougou: A citizen mobilization allows for the collection of 62 bags of blood in Pissila. The Pissila Medical Center, in collaboration with the Kaya Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS), organized a blood collection day on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, which resulted in the collection of 62 bags intended to strengthen blood product reserves.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this solidarity initiative was organized in a context of high malaria prevalence where transfusion needs are generally on the rise, and it was welcomed by health authorities. The chief physician of the Pissila Medical Centre, Dr. Dramane Oudraogo, expressed gratitude for this outpouring of solidarity.

"We are in a period of high malaria prevalence where the need for blood products is significant," he said, adding that this collection will help strengthen blood reserves for the benefit of health facilities. He called on the population to remain available to save lives through voluntary and regular blood donation.

The practitioner also reassured that blood donation is a safe act for the donor while being vital for patients requiring a transfusion. Among the donors, Inoussa Oudraogo, on his second donation, launched an appeal for solidarity. "I will be there every time a blood drive is organized," he said, before adding: "It doesn't just happen to other people. Today, other people need blood; tomorrow, it might be me or a loved one."

This operation helps to secure blood supplies for patient care, particularly during this period of high demand.
